I do have quite a few things to say about NY publishing after reading this post, as if I didn’t have these things to say before. But now I can say them with even more frustrated fervor.

Honestly, I admire your self-control in your commentary. 🙂 I agree wholeheartedly that the NY publishers are doing nothing but killing themselves with their petulant, selfish actions towards authors who are only trying make a freaking living! I’m also supporting Kiana by picking up her books… as you stated in your podcast: no one deserves the ridiculous treatment she has received at the hands of the traditional pub house(s).
I agree with you as well. Amazon and Barnes & Noble allow for writers to easily self-publish, set prices, and handle all of the publishing ends of the book through their e-publishing sites, kdp.amazon.com & pubit.com.
If you want free reign on your own books try them out.
Author’s have got nothing to lose, except, it seems, a chance with NY. But that dynamic is forever changing. I’ve seen it go back and forth a few times already over the past 18 months.

Just one more horror story and sadly not the only one. I know of one best seller who is getting a nickel a book because she didn’t know verbal contracts are legal in New York and they were taping their phone call to her. Apparently “Oh, wonderful” is as good as a signature on a legal document with the Big Publishers. How many talented writers have these people silenced?
After hearing all these tales, I never even bothered to submit my novel to these sharks but went straight to self-publishing. I will probably never get rich, but I don’t have someone controlling my life and looking for every possible way to cheat me either.
That’s a horrible story!
Sharks. No kidding. You likely won’t get rich self-publishing, but you’d also likely get rich with NY. There is very little money in publishing for most people.
