Charming Charlie is a gripping and darkly absurd play that explores the rise of a dangerous criminal who seizes the U.S. presidency, steering the nation into fascism. Under Charlie’s reign, mass deportations, martial law, and extreme nationalism become the norm, as marginalized communities face unprecedented threats. The story unfolds in the streets of Portland, where two diametrically opposed groups—Antifa and the alt-right Patriot Boys—clash violently over the future of America. While the Patriot Boys cheer Charlie’s tyranny, Antifa members plot in horror, determined to resist. The play’s tension peaks when an Antifa operative infiltrates the Patriot Boys, gathering crucial intelligence and persuading a key member to defect. This daring infiltration leads to a bold plan to fracture the alt-right’s ranks and spark the long, difficult fight to reclaim American democracy. Charming Charlie is a powerful reflection on the polarized state of modern America and the high stakes of political resistance.
